Birdies For Cancer at The Dick’s Open!

Birdies For Cancer is an initiative at the DICK’S Open where donors can make a pledge per birdie made at the tournament (or a flat donation), with an additional 10% match made by Security Mutual Life.

This initiative helps support Sock Out Cancer whose mission is to assist financially distressed cancer patients and their families pay for non-medical necessities such as food, transportation, and housing so patients can focus their energy on fighting cancer.

Birdies For Cancer FAQs

What is a birdie?
A “birdie” is a score of one stroke lower than “par” for any golf hole on the course. “Par” is the normal expected score of a golf professional on any given hole. For example, on a par 4 hole, a score of 3 is a birdie.

What is the benefit of donating to a charity through the Birdies for Charity program instead of making a direct donation to the charity?

The charity will not only receive every penny of your donation (Broome County Community Charities absorbs all of the credit card fees) but they will receive a 10% match on every dollar raised, thanks to our friends at Security Mutual. Donations are also tax-deductible.
